This National Historic Landmark was the home of philanthropist and railroad magnate Asa Packer, built in 1859-1861 at a cost of $14,000. This magnificent home was built over a cast iron frame and consists of 3 stories topped by a red-ribbed tin roof and a central cupola. It contains 18 rooms full of original 19th-century furnishings. Normally open weekends in April, May, November & the first 2 weekends in December.We are open seven days a week in October, 2011 and weekends in November and the first two weekends in December (weather permiting).

Family-friendly walks weekend evenings (Ghost season: Fri, Sept 7-Sat, Dec 15) start from the Inn at Jim Thorpe, 24 Broadway. Outdoors - 1 mile roundtrip to the Old Jail Museum - about an hour. Walk-ins welcome if space is available - reservations strongly recommended. Tickets available 15 minutes before each walk; adults: $10, children, 7-12: $5.
