As of Friday, June 12, Carbon County is in the Green Phase of Pennsylvania’s Phased Reopening.  We look forward to welcoming you back to Jim Thorpe!  Safety is our first concern.  Help us keep you and our community safe by preventing the spread of COVID-19!  Please follow the precautions that are listed below. 

  • Follow all CDC and PA Department of Health Guidelines 

  • Keep Social Distance - 6' apart

  • Wear Masks as Required - entrance to all businesses and whenever in close proximity to others

  • The Visitor’s Center (Train Station) is OPEN

  • Public Bathrooms are available at the Visitor’s Center

 

  • Several businesses will have Hand Washing Stations outside their business for public use

  • Follow any specific guidelines posted on businesses’ doors.  All businesses have limited the number of customers in their store

  • Any gathering for a planned or spontaneous event of greater than 250 individuals is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, a concert, festival, fair, conference, sporting event, movie showing, or theater performance.

  • Restaurants are open for takeout and outside dining and reduced indoor dining.  Restaurants are permitted to provide take-out and delivery sales, as well as dine-in service in both indoor and outdoor seating areas, so long as they strictly adhere to the requirements of the guidance, including maximum occupancy limits

 

  • Deposit all trash in a proper receptacle or take it with you.  Please do not litter!

 

  • Parking is available at the County Lot (1 Susquehanna Avenue, Jim Thorpe PA  18229) - $10/car or $20/buses, campers or tow trailers

  • Mauch Chunk Lake is OPEN to all visitors for camping, hiking and boating.   Carbon County, however, has limited the use of the swimming and beach areas to Carbon County residents only thru July 7th 2020 

  • Train Excursions have NOT resumed.  Unfortunately, the Borough of Jim Thorpe and the RBMN RR have not yet been able to come to an agreement over this important part of tourism and business in Jim Thorpe.  Please contact the JT Borough Office for info on the current status (570.325.3025)
